Affiliates: Lahmeyer International (Germany)
Location: Greater Amman, JORDAN
Service Provided: EIA, Design and Supervision
A joint venture project with Lahmeyer International (Germany), the original Hydraulic Analysis study funded by KfW covered the whole area of Greater Amman, with an area of approximately 540 km². Some central areas of the city were already rehabilitated within the framework of the Lahmeyer / GKW project (Contracts 1A and 1B).
The KfW study established various priorities for implementation of the recommendations at hand according to the existing state of the zones. The area for this project includes 13 of these priority zones, covering some 30% of the total area of Greater Amman.
The project was to serve an estimated total population for these 13 zones of approximately 378,000 which is about 30% of the total population at the time. The project included 1,200 km of pipelines DN 100 to 900mm, 12 ground reservoirs, 5 water towers, 4 pumping stations (primary), 5 booster stations of which are 2 on line boosters.
